FLAKE FEST BACK IN NISEKO, JAPAN FOR 2010

NOW CALLING FOR ENTRIES FOR THE 2010 FESTIVAL

Flake Film Festival- NISEKO’S PREMIERE FILM EVENT!!!
is now “Calling For Entries”....Put your film in the spotlight!

Niseko’s premiere short film event is set to once again entertain YOU- the people, visitors and workers of Niseko, Hirafu, Japan. After such a successful event in February, 2009, we have decided to once again bring this “Award Winning” film event to Niseko & we are excited to announce that we are now
“CALLING FOR FILM ENTRIES” and we want your short film!!

Flake is searching high and low, near and far for the freshest filmaking talent this weird, wacky and wonderful world has to offer!
Your film must be less than 8 mins & can be any genre or style. Unlike in previous years, this year we have decided to have an open theme, which means your film can be about absolutely anything you like, but you have less than 4 weeks to enter- so start filming!

Entries close Wednesday 24th February, 2010. Cash and prizes will be awarded! Screenings will premiere in Niseko around the first week of March, 2010.
Now in it's 8th year, the award winning Flake Film Festival has developed into a unique grass roots film festival which showcases a diverse range of both Australian and International films from first time, hobby, student and professional filmmakers.

“This year we already have some great films to show, however we are hoping to receive more films from local Niseko filmmakers, as well as other films from around Japan. We are very proud to be an accessible platform for emerging filmmakers and we are excited to see what films this years will bring us”, says festival Director Anthony Trovatello (“Chook”).

So you'd better get rolling if you wanna see your film in the spotlight! For entry forms and info, slide through www.flakefilmfestival.com

FLAKE FILM FEST IN JAPAN!!!

outside the window of the temp falke HQ in Japan- Mt Yotei

Thats right film world- the Flake Film Festival is currently in Japan and we are starting a new worldwide adventure to show your films to the people of resorts around the world!

After much thought, discussion and planning0- festival director is currently in NISEKO, on the north island of the amazing country we know as JAPAN!

I have been working hard at establishing some roots and screening venues here in NISEKO- the powder (snow!!) capital of the world! Over the next few weeks, i will be updating you (and the website...finally) with all the info. But as sneak preview i can tell you that we have a huge interest and also a massive Aussie and english speaking network up here in Hokkaido, japan- it looks like we will be screening the 2008 festival here in late January, then a BEST OF FLAKE in February ans kicking off a whole new festival including local japanes entries in March 2009!

We are still confirming some critical details, but all looks good for Flake and your films!

Just in case your not aware- Niseko is the most snow and mixed culture region in Japan (not to mention almost 40% of Niseko is owned and operated by Australians!) along with many operators and vistors from USA, CANADA, UK, EUROPE and other Asian citizens from Hong Kong, China and Singapore- many of which share a passion for film, music, adventure and of course great powder snow.

You should hopefully also be aware by now- that though Flake is based in Ski Resort Towns- we are NOT a Ski/ Snowboard Film Festival- though we do include a small few ski/board/sport films-we are a complete film festival with the majority of our films being Drama, Comedy, Docco, Mockumentry and animation- we are the real deal for filmmakers and offer amazing cash awards, prizes and and atmospher unique to Flake style- we simply love film, snow, travel and along with our audience we just want to see a diverse rabge of excellent short films that tell many a different story!

So keep posted on this site for more info- and get involved, tell your friends, family, colleagues and crew all about Flake- and more importantly start planning gto enter a film!
