Unfortunately we cannot accept any entries after today unless you have already contacted Flake and made for alternative arrangements.

We will be shortlisting the films this week and will advise all filmmakers of their films status by late next week.

We can however tell you that screenings will premiere around the NSW Snowy Mountains from September 6th-13th, 2008- Screenings will be held at

JINDABYNE- Jindabyne Cinema

Thredbo- Kosi Room, Thredbo Alpine Hotel

Perisher- Sundeck Hotel

COOMA- The Hub Centre

Tickets to all screenings for all people aged 5 and up is $10.

Flake Film Festival- Australia's HIGHEST Short Film Festival
is now “Calling For Entries....LESS THAN 4 WEEKS TILL ENTRIES CLOSE!"
Filmmakers only have untill Tuesday August 12th to enter their short film into "Australia's HIGHEST Short Film Festival".

The Flake Film Festival is now calling for short film entries, the 2008 theme is "LIGHT". Flake is searching high and low, near and far for the freshest filmaking talent this weird, wacky and wonderful world has to offer- and they're putting up $15,000 in cash n prizes as a reward!

Your film must be less than 8 mins, can be any genre or style & of course include the 2008 theme of LIGHT- You can incorporate “LIGHT” as the main theme or central storyline, an object in the film, it may be symbolic or even in the dialogue. You can be cheeky or sneaky, but just make sure we can see the LIGHT!

Entries close Tuesday August 12th, 2008.Over $15,000 cash and prizes will be awarded across several categories. Screenings will premiere around the NSW Snowy Mountains, including the world class ski resorts of Thredbo and Perisher Blue between the 5th -13th September 08.

Now in it's 6th year, the award winning Flake Film Festival has developed into a unique grass roots film festival which showcases a diverse range of Australian and International films from first time, hobby,student and professional filmmakers.

“We have already received a great variety of quality films from Australia and overseas, produced by amateur and pro filmakers- we look forward to seeing what else we receive in the last few weeks. We encourage anybody to enter no matter what film experience they have- we also urge all those people who think of great ideas and talk about making a film, to get a move on and have a go" says Festival Director Anthony Trovatello (Chook).

You don't need an excuse to enter Australia's highest short film festival, just a clever idea, camera, PC and a few friends (Or at least some people who will pretend for a day!).

So you'd better get rolling if you wanna see your film in the spotlight!

Flake supports local youth!

: Kim was all smiles upon receiving her very first season pass from Chook!

The Flake Film Festival and Anthony Trovatello (ChooK) have been a major supporter and actively involved in the community over the past 6 years- working closely with local youth, media, seasonal staff, events and tourism.

This was again proved last week, when the Flake Film Festival awarded the final part of the 2007 Blake McGrath Tribute Award & Snow-sports Sponsorship to 16 year old Kim Wellings from Jindabyne who was “stoked” when she went with Chook to pick up her first ever season lift pass at the Perisher Blue office in Jindabyne.

“Blake is sadly missed, but through the festival and sponsorship his spirit lives and rides on each year- something he loved to do”, says Anthony.

Kim was presented the award for many reasons, but especially for “her active involvement in everything! Kim is a part of countless community, youth and arts projects and is a perfect example of how talented, motivated and inspiring our young people are. Kim has bundles of positive energy and is a real asset to our community”, Anthony said.

Each year, with support of sponsors and money raised through ticket sales, the FFF awards a Blake McGrath Tribute Award and a snow sports scholarship to a nominated young person of the Snowy Mountains which includes a season lift pass and quality snow equipment including clothing from Rojo, Googles from Dragon, helmet from Protec, Bindings from Flow, thermals from Sherpa, ski/board tuning from Rebel Sport and physio/ massage therapy from Jindabyne Physiotherapy.
