Berridale

At the heart of the Snowy River Shire amid rolling hills and mountain ranges lies the town of Berridale.

Established in the 1860s by Scotsman William Oliver it was a 320 acre holding named after his hometown of Berriedale in Scotland.

On the main road between Cooma and the snowfields of Thredbo and Perisher it becomes evident as you pass the Snowy River Shire airport that you are entering boulder country.

The varying shapes and sizes of these boulders due to volcanic activity 400 million years ago and natural erosion are a photographers dream.
